GORS COMMUNITY SCHOOL Working together to achieve our best

We are proud to be able to call ourselves a multi-cultural school with our ever increasing numbers of EAL pupils. We have nine (9) additional languages (other than English and Welsh) spoken by our pupils and they represent thirteen different countries from around the globe. We place a high priority on developing an understanding and respect for other faiths and cultures and this diversity is celebrated throughout the school.

The school has linking projects with schools in Europe, Sweden, Poland, Italy and Germany  - supported by the British Council Comenius programme.

Pupils prepare work about the places they live and the sorts of things they do there. We swap this news and so we learn a lot about each others countries and cultures.

We also send our travelling buddy - Megan the Sheep -  to stay with our partners all over Europe. She brings back stories, photographs and news from the children she stays with.

Every year we have an International Week in school where every class "becomes" a different country for the week. We learn how to say some words in the language of that country, try on their national costume, sing some songs, try some food and find out all we can about what it's like living there.

The other International project we have is with a school in India and our link with The Study School means that we can find out about a developing country, first hand!

Check out some more photos of our International activities in the Photo Gallery.
